MPC Data at Embedded World 2009

MPC Data will be exhibiting at Embedded World 2009 in Nuremberg from 3rd – 5th March, where you will find us on the Microsoft stand in Hall 11.0, Stand no. 11-318. We will be exhibiting a range of our latest innovative projects including:

- The latest release of our Windows CE 6r2 board support package for the Texas Instruments DM355 DaVinci Evaluation Module (DVEVM). We will be demonstrating real-time D1 video compression and decompression on this low-cost platform, which is particularly suited to portable digital video devices, including cameras, photo-frames and video security systems.

- Renesas SH4 streaming media-player demo. This consists of an SH7780 processor acting as a media server, and a media client running on an SH7763 processor. Both devices are running Windows CE operating systems.

- Microsoft Auto running on a Texas Instruments Jacinto 2 reference board. The Jacinto 2 is specifically targeted at in-car infotainment devices, and in combination with Microsoft Auto it offers a low-cost, feature-rich platform for automotive manufacturers and suppliers.

- A V2IP demonstration based on the Texas Instruments OMAP 3530 processor. TI’s new OMAP3 family represents the market’s first broad offering of the ARM Cortex™-A8 core. With more than four times the processing power of today’s 300MHz ARM9 devices, hardware video accelerators, a TMS320C64x+ DSP core, and comprehensive on-chip peripheral set, the OMAP 3530 is a great platform for Windows CE. Visit us at Embedded World to find out why!

MPC Data’s unique position as a Windows Embedded Gold Partner, Texas Instruments DaVinci Authorized Software Provider, and Renesas Platinum Partner enable us to offer a complete service for getting Microsoft Windows Embedded platforms up and running and configured for customers' needs as well as custom application development services.

We look forward to welcoming you to our stand and discussing your own requirements.

Windows CE for OMAP3 - powered BeagleBoard 20/02/2009

Windows CE for OMAP3 - powered BeagleBoard

MPC Data are now demonstrating Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2 running on the low-cost BeagleBoard platform. The BeagleBoard is based on Texas Instruments high-end OMAP™ 3530 processor, offering an amazing combination of low cost, low power consumption, and very high performance.

The OMAP 3530 benefits greatly from a feature-rich operating system like Windows CE to utilise the performance of the complex multi-core silicon, whilst making it available to developers in a readily usable form. In combination, the BeagleBoard and Windows CE offer a very powerful embedded multimedia hardware platform, enabling Windows developers to rapidly create compelling embedded applications. Using familiar development tools (including Visual Studio) developers can quickly and easily create managed and native applications that harness the power of the BeagleBoard.

The BeagleBoard <http://beagleboard.org/> makes this advanced technology available at a very low price-point.

MPC Data are pleased to announce that they are now licensed Interim Product Providers both for Microsoft's Digital Rights Management technologies and for the range of Microsoft audio and video codecs.

Approved Interim Product Licensees for WMDRM 10 for Portable and Network Devices

Windows Media Components Interim Product Licensees

DRM protected content is increasingly becoming the norm in digital retail, and MPC Data are in a position to help bring Microsoft's industry-leading DRM solutions to new platforms, safeguarding against customer frustration.

MPC Data has a number of experts in the field of DRM, with knowledge and experience of all areas from technical through to legal, so we are in an excellent position to advise you about which DRM solutions are best suited to your individual requirements.

Our engineers can guide and advise you throughout the complex process of obtaining Interim and or Final Product licenses, allowing you to develop or distribute your DRM-ready product. Crucially, as Interim Licensees, we are able to develop a port of WMDRM-10 tailored specifically to your Operating System and device, with support for WMA and WMV formats as required. MPC Data can provide a WMDRM-10 solution for Windows CE, Linux, or any other OS to meet your needs.

With a surprisingly low performance overhead, WMDRM-10 can be run without issue on most portable, networked, or embedded media devices. To find out more about the training courses and engineering services we offer in this area, please contact us.

Silica TI OMAP Workshop, Cambridge 04/02/2009

Silica TI OMAP Workshop, Cambridge

The TI OMAP 35x processors represent the first broad-market offering of the ARM Cortex™-A8 core, and offer very high performance processing at the best performance/power ratio in a single chip. This free workshop was an excellent opportunity to get in-depth training on the TI OMAP processor family and the ARM Cortex™-A8 core.

With more than four times the processing capability of today's 300 MHz ARM9 devices, the superscalar Cortex-A8 core runs up to 600 MHz and is integrated into four new OMAP35xTM applications processors for a wide range of possible applications, including portable infotainment and industrial devices, points of sale, digital signage and low-power medical devices.
