MPC Data Limited and SiTel Semiconductor BV have announced a partnership for the support and development services for a µCLinux Board Support Package (BSP) targeting the SiTel Semiconductor SC14450 VoIP baseband processor.
Mark de Clercq, Product Marketing Manager, SiTel Semiconductor BV comments "SiTel set very aggressive timescales for the introduction of its VoIP platform into the market. We would not have been able to meet these timescales without the technical expertise and professionalism demonstrated by MPC Data and we are proud to welcome them as a software development partner. It has been a great team effort".
"Porting Linux to any 16-bit core architecture is always going to be a technical challenge but one which we are very familiar with, this being our 3rd µCLinux port. We overcam some significant challenges along the way, particularly with the implementation of posix threads and runtime symbol relocations. We are very pleased with the cache optimisations we achieved to deliver kernel performance comparable to that of currently available standard 32-bit RISC processors. We pride ourselves on the stability of the BSP and tools we developed to meet the high standards demanded by SiTel" added Phil Buckley, MPC Data's Embedded Linux Business Group Director.”
