Perst Starter Kit Bundles

The product bundles for Perst have been put together to enable designers to build-in Perst for commercial designs at the lowest entry price.

Each bundle includes the one-off cost for the Perst commercial licence plus a starter pack of Perst runtimes. The commercial licence enables opt-out from GPL (primarily retention of source code IP) obligations with commercial products under the dual-licensing model and gives OEMs the rights to distribute Perst object code as part of their products.

With the commercial license in place additional top-up bundles of runtimes can be purchased to suit your business model and usage:

About Perst for Silverlight

With its newly added Silverlight support, Perst for .NET enables Silverlight applications to leverage DBMS features including transactions, a flexible and easy-to-use API, multiple database indexes, garbage collection and more. Uses of Perst with Silverlight include client-side caching, software as a service (SaaS) architectures, and storage of application settings and of data for tables, grids and lists in Web forms. With Perst, clients can also store data from unfinished projects that use Silverlight Web applications.

To enforce security in Silverlight-based Web clients, Perst requires explicit permission from local users before allowing data storage to exceed the maximum 1 megabyte size allowed under the quota. Also for security, the isolated storage feature in Silverlight restricts the Perst-based application to using a sub-tree of the file system for database storage. Developers can also choose to use Perst for transient, memory-only storage in Silverlight applications.

Perst for Silverlight for use in SaaS applications is licensed based on a load-balanced Web Server pair which allows unlimited client accesses.

The Silverlight enabled features of Perst can also be used standalone on a runtime royalty basis with Windows desktop or embedded devices including Windows Phone 7, Windows Embedded Compact 7, Microsoft Auto 4.1 and WIndows Embedded CE 6.0 R3.

Which Perst Starter Kit do I need?

Select Java or C#.Net as your development platform
Select Desktop ( full JRE or .Net Framework ) for PC Client or Server products
Select Lite ( mobile J2ME or .Net Compact Framework) for mobile such as Blackberry and embedded products based on Windows CE (including local Silverlight client only applications)
Select Silverlight for SaaS for web server based applications where the client-side Perst objects are deployed on demand from typically a load-balanced pair of web servers

With all Perst versions you have free access to the excellent McObject support forum and you can request support online

When you purchase the commercial licence for Perst as part of a starter kit you will be provided with a volume pricing table for additional runtimes
