Flash file system performance and power fail-safe operation are key to a great user experience for consumer and embedded devices that need reliable NOR and/or NAND flash memory. Datalight’s flash file system allows you to meet the challenges of near instant-on boot times and power fail-safe reliability requirements of operating systems such as Microsoft Windows CE, Windows Mobile, Linux, and many Real Time Operating Systems. Datalight Reliance transactional file system with FlashFX Pro flash media manager provide a complete flash file system on NOR, NAND, hybrid flash memory or combination of NOR and NAND.
Reliable file system software that supports a range of storage technologies like HDD, SSD,CF cards, NOR and NAND for power fail-safe, high performance operation helps manufacturers of industrial automation, aerospace, networking, telecommunications, and consumer devices get to market quickly, without risking data corruption and poor performance. Datalight’s file system and flash memory manager give your design performance, reliable power fail-safe operation and NOR, NAND flash memory part sourcing flexibility.
MPC Data has collaborated with Datalight engineers to develop a compelling demonstration platform for the Datalight flash filesystems using the popular BeagleBoard hardware based on the high-performance Texas Instruments OMAP3530 device. Our Windows CE6.0 R3 board support package for the BeagleBoard is configured to run the same demo application using the stock Windows CE filesystem compared to Datalight's Reliance Nitro.
The video below illustrates why you should pay close attention to the integrity of your data on consumer, mobile and battery powered devices.

Designed to meet the responsiveness needs of devices storing large numbers of files, Reliance Nitro high performance file system improves the speed of file and directory access by several orders of magnitude, while continuing to deliver the rock-solid reliability of its Reliance heritage. The unique combination of tree-based directory architecture, extent based design, and faster atomic transactions, gives a performance benefit for I/O throughput and metadata operations. Dynamic Transaction Point™ technology, found in all Reliance products, gives developers unprecedented control over file system operations. Reliance Nitro is optimized for use on consumer electronics and industrial devices like smartphones, navigation devices, and handheld scanners that cannot compromise reliability or performance to deliver a compelling user experience.

Reliance: High-Integrity Transactional File System with Dynamic Transaction Point™ Technology From consumer devices to tools for industrial testing and control, embedded devices may be treated with the utmost care or be dropped regularly. Most embedded systems operate without the support of a plug in the wall, and they could be at risk for unexpected power loss. The rules and assumptions that apply to the PC environment are tossed out the window in the embedded world.
Reliance is a file system that was developed specifically for embedded systems. Engineers who choose Reliance do so because they cannot take a chance that data could be lost due to file system corruption. Reliance's transactional architecture ensures high reliability against data corruption and its Dynamic Transaction Point™ technology allows developers the flexibility to tune file system performance.
Engineers use Reliance because the file system:

FlashFX and FlashFX Pro: Flash Media Managers for Rapid Development of Reliable Products Embedded developers have many choices to make at the beginning of a project. A critical one is whether to use the media management tools offered by the flash manufacturer, or whether to move to a solution that can deliver more flexibility, better reliability and higher performance. Datalight's FlashFX® and FlashFX® Pro are flash media managers that deliver all three.
FlashFX is classic flash media managers that provides support for NOR flash memory. FlashFX Pro is a high-performance, multi-threaded flash media manager targeted at applications requiring real-time response from resident flash memory. FlashFX Pro supports NOR, NAND, fusion flash and NAND controllers. Many devices - such as cameras, set-top boxes or handheld medical devices - support streaming video or audio applications and information must be read from non-volatile storage without delays. Because of its multi-threaded design, FlashFX Pro is able to offer low read latency for these multimedia applications.
Engineers use the FlashFX Family because of:
