After several judging rounds consisting of demos, presentations and Q&A, Kevin made it through to the final 6 teams with his project ‘Child Sleep Safe’ a next generation baby monitoring and response system built upon Windows Embedded Compact 7. MPC Data and Premier Farnell, the leading electronics distributor announce that they have signed an exclusive catalogue software distribution agreement. Under this agreement, Farnell will offer Windows Embedded Compact BSPs from MPC Data alongside development hardware to their worldwide customer base through catalogue and online, collaborative element14 community channels. For more information visit the MPC Data channel on element14.com The Board Support Package (BSP) allows you to focus on your application development and get your product to market (and hence revenue) faster. Aimed primarily at Texas Instruments’ Davinci, Sitara & OMAP families, you will see that MPC Data have a range of products to suit the ARM9 and Cortex-A8 cores and hence provide a number of BSPs to support the various development platforms that customers are starting their designs on.MPC Showcase at TI Technology Day 30/11/2011

The Imagine Cup competition sees teams create solutions that address real world issues via the use of technology. Child Sleep Safe aims to reduce infant mortality by analysing environmental conditions on and around a child in real time, and if required interact with various home automation systems to correct any issues that arise before the need to warn parents.
This year the Imagine Cup saw over 350,000 registrants however Kevin remains the only single competitor team to compete in the embedded category during the competitions 9 year history, having previously got through to the final 6 teams in the 2010 Imagine Cup finals held in Warsaw, Poland with an augmented reality system to aid blind and partially sighted individuals.

MPC Data’s Windows Embedded Group reveals latest BSP Roadmap for Windows Embedded CE6 and Compact 7 22/10/2010

We are all witnessing the trend in Embedded designs moving to more powerful processor solutions and the need to move to High Level Operating Systems (HLOS), part of this trend also requires a stable, high quality BSP which enables the programmer to exploit the full range of the development board’s capabilities. The BSP provides the foundation for the overlying HLOS, and helps to ensure its overall speed and reliability.
Neville Bulsara, MPC Data Business Development Manager, says “The BSPs compliment a range of products and services that we have fo embedded device developers to start up their design teams much more quickly and also allow their application specialists to focus on their end product design rather than issues such as device drivers and frameworks – which often require different specialist knowledge to that which is available in house. As we build up to the expected release of Microsoft Windows Embedded Compact 7 next year - we will be enabling customers to move forward on their existing designs and eventually migrate from WinCE 6 BSP products if needed”
It makes a great deal of commercial sense to focus your internal development effort on delivering the software IP that differntiates your product in the marketplace rather than expending precious build-in-house effort on producing a stable OS platform. Let the experts at MPC Data do the heavy lifting on enabling your platform with an off-the-shelf production ready BSP that has been CETK tested and comes with specialist technical support when you need.
MPC Data also provides a range of software application development services, with specialist teams at all levels of embedded software development from boot-loader to turn-key application. Migrating prototype code from a silicon reference platform to your custom hardware, driver development or board bring-up and SoC hardware acceleration are key areas where spcialist assistance will save you time and reduce risk.
More recent developments have included sophisticated Medical, Video Security and Industrial projects for a worldwide customer base.
Based in the UK and North America MPC Data is an award winning Microsoft Gold partner providing World Class Embedded Software Solutions and Products to the embedded community,
