November 6 &7, 2008
MPC Data was in attendance at the Embedded Linux Conference Europe, which took place on the 6 &7th November 2008 in Ede, Netherlands.
Peter Griffin one of MPC Data's embedded Linux engineers presented a case study of the uClinux architecture port recently undertaken to the CR16C+ architecture in conjunction with SiTel Semiconductor for their SC14450 baseband processor.
A copy of the presentations and other material from the conference has now been made available for download from the CE Linux Forum site.
SiTel and MPC Data engineers also demonstrated the SC14450 VOIP platform at the conference technical showcase.
The Embedded Linux Conference (ELC) is the premier vendor-neutral technical conference for companies and developers using Linux in embedded products. To find out more about the conference visit the conference website http://www.embeddedlinuxconference.com/elc_europe08/index.html
MPC Data contributes updates to the latest Linux Kernel 2.6.27
Over the past year MPC Data have submitted numerous patches and worked directly with the kernel maintainers to further the mainline Linux kernel. The most significant contributions have been to improve support for Renesas SH4 and processors SH2 microcontrollers including:
- Renesas SH7712 – Kernel update with Board Support Package (BSP) extensions and additional peripheral support
- Renesas SH7780 – Added kernel support for SDK7780 Renesas Technology Europe boards
- Renesas SH7203 - Additional uCLinux (Linux for microcontrollers) support, stability fixes for cache coherency and POSIX threads;device driver improvements for on-chip Ethernet and serial devices.
Our latest updates have been approved and are now included in the 'state of the art' 2.6.27 kernel at kernel.org. We provide a range of pre-built Linux BSP's available for free download at www.shlinux.com including our popular uCLinux BSP for SH7203.
MPC Data is pleased to announce that they will be presenting at the NMI "Debugging Embedded is hard" networking event at ARM headquarters in Cambridge on 24th June 2008.
Peter Griffin of the Embedded Linux Group will be presenting a case study on the CR16C+ architecture port to the uClinux kernel and tools. The presentation will focus on the main kernel areas which needed porting, the difficulties encountered and debugging techniques used to overcome them.
