Streamlining surgeries 24/05/2007

MPC Data has been working closely with Telehealth Solutions on their new and innovative product, iHealthCheck. The device reduces NHS waiting lists by optimising the use of the doctors’ appointment time and thereby streamlining the entire patient experience.

On average iHealthCheck reduces the time that each patient needs to spend with the doctor by up to 8 minutes without sacrificing patient care. It works by allowing several of the routine tests performed by doctors to be conducted whilst the patient is still in the waiting room either by themselves or with the help of a nurse, leaving the doctor free to focus on detailed diagnosis.

MPC Data is helping Telehealth Solutions take their initial proof-of-concept design and turn it into a robust solution ready for large scale field trials. The iHealthCheck client device takes full advantage of Microsoft Windows XP Embedded to provide a very reliable system which is easy to manage remotely. The software has been designed from the ground up for portability, so that it can be easily moved to Windows CE for future high volume, low cost variants.

MPC Data appoints the UK's only eMVP 24/04/2007

MPC Data is delighted to announce the further strengthening of its Windows Embedded Business group by the appointment of Oleg Volosin. Oleg is well known to many members of the Microsoft Windows Embedded community through his active participation in the Windows Embedded newsgroups, and brings with him a deep technical knowledge of Windows CE and expertise in a wide range of ARM-cored devices.

Oleg’s skill and support for the Windows Embedded community has been recognised by Microsoft through his ‘eMVP’ (Embedded Most Valuable Professional) status. MVP status is the highest technical award granted by Microsoft, and Oleg is currently the only eMVP based in the UK.

Oleg is joining a team of highly experienced engineers at MPC Data working on a wide range of product development projects for our clients, ranging from medical equipment to automotive information systems. MPC Data Ltd has unveiled the company's new structure, with the introduction of dedicated business groups for Windows ® Embedded and Embedded Linux software platforms as well as a specialist Embedded Solutions Group.

The move, which builds on the company's 22 years experience in serving the embedded software industry, is supported by its teams of skilled software and hardware engineers.

MPC Data and Teradyne Inc - a long standing relationship 28/03/2007

One of MPC Data’s oldest development relationships recently passed a significant milestone. In 1987 MPC Data Limited started work on its first fixed price project for the Broadband Test Division of Teradyne Inc, the world leader in ATE and test systems. Twenty years later, MPC Data engineers are still providing valuable support and development expertise to Teradyne. The technology may have moved on from that used in the mid-eighties but the philosophy and sound business sense of the relationship has not.

The first project was written in C and ran on an MSDOS based IBM PC. Things have moved on since those times however with latest systems based on Java, SOAP, CORBA, XML and C++ running on an SMP Solaris platform.

Steve Harper, Managing Director, MPC Data Limited added “Back in 1987, we recognised that Teradyne was making a significant investment in our expertise by placing business with us. It was (and still is) our responsibility to ensure that we repay that investment by providing continuity of support to our clients. Through the 20 years of the relationship the development team supplied to Teradyne has at times varied from one engineer to teams of more than 20.
